‘Independence Day’ Sequel: Fox Greenlights Sequel To 1996 Film
Fox is currently working to secure a directing deal with Roland Emmerich, who directed the successful film in 1996, according to our sister site Deadline. We know that Roland will do an amazing job making the sequel just as epic!
Also, there may not just be one sequel, but possibly two! There are rumors that the two sequel films will be shot back-to-back, though Fox has only so far approved production for the one.
Unfortunately, Will Smith will reportedly not be reprising his starring role in the film. The script has been written and they will be casting the film after Roland’s deal is confirmed, so stay tuned!
Releasing the film in 2016 is just in time for the 20th anniversary of the original film. We can’t wait!
