Fox is currently working to secure a directing deal with Roland Emmerich, who directed the successful film in 1996, according to our sister site DeadlineWe know that Roland will do an amazing job making the sequel just as epic!

Also, there may not just be one sequel, but possibly two! There are rumors that the two sequel films will be shot back-to-back, though Fox has only so far approved production for the one.
